often times, i see that there are people who say India is getting better than US. Wages are going up. H1b is tiring. H4 dependents are not able to work.
but not once is the person posting the message declaring that he is leaving to India. He/She thinks that more "people from india will not come" . It is the person's ulterior motive that people from india should not come to US.
once i am in, let the doors close behind me.
Our attitude is playing one against another. We just need unity among ourselves.
EB1 against EB2. EB2 against EB3. EB3 against Family based etc. But fact of the matter is that our own brother/sister might belong to the same category. What if our parents fall sick. Would we want them to come to america or should we move back to India.

Labor is done via perm process and they are now centrally processed (only prevailing wage is state dependent). Your company can apply for it online and you should get a result in 3-4 wks if the case is not audited. Good Luck to you.

I have pledged on the funding drive thread to pay $20 monthly through paypal (I have also made one time contribution to the fund drive).
I am writing this to encourage others to send their monthly payment through paypal for amounts less than $50 if you want to. Monthly payments help plan things better for IV.
Question to the core, if you feel $20 per month through paypal is too much overhead for IV, I can collect my monthly payments and make onetime contributions instead. Its minimal effort for me either way, really.

What I am saying is, instead of spending N years waiting for GC, I guess we lead better life elsewhere!
Where else, in our home country... but that reminds me of descremenation again!!
So I thought of place which is not in high demand yet... africa...!
I always believe in making things happen, in stead of waiting for someone doing it for me!!

I checked with a lawyer once and she told me that you do not need paystubs for her. you need a paystub for yourself because you should be in status. dont know if all lawyers would agree.
i forgot to mention - i had asked the lawyer about change of status to h4 instead of a stamping at a canada consulate. first change the status here to h4. in that case u would need a stamping only when you leave the country. who knows by that time u might receive your AP.

1. if your company pays for everything, why such reluctance to put up a few more dollars for your own cause? think of those that pay for everything themselves and still contribute.
2. each contribution to paypal costs, they take a chunk off it. making small 10 buck contribution is really not the intelligent way to go.
3. there used to be a 20/mnth recurring contribution. now it does no exist. what do you want? should we throw out the original 20 buck guys? of course they can continue doing it. i can't imagine why it would put you off? btw we did not really lose any money by going to a minimum of 50- you know why? those who were serious still contributed. others who were whining at that time (why is there not a 10/mnth option) were in many (though not all) cases not going to contribute anyway. this is just fyi.
4. what is 50 bucks a month? step back and think sometime. a family meal/movie? do you indulge yourself occasionally worth 50 bucks?

Only reason Attenborg's Gandhi was so magnificient is ...because it was an outsiders view on the life of gandhi...a less attached view of bapu's life.
If a desi had made that movie he would be overcome with his personal view of gandhi..
the movie on Gandhi is a masterpiece and slumdog is a piece of shit.
Credits to rehman for being brilliant as usual...but deifinitely this is not his best.
Slumdog made it to oscars only because a white dude directed it...if a Benegal or Mehra had directed it..it would never have made it past the shore..
My question to all the white trash out there..why are they so fasinated/amused by the poverty in asia or developing country.

But don't you think it time the Indian Government (with all the criminal politicians) would take a note of this and correct the image of India by at least starting some project to alleviate the problems for poor of the poorest? Don't you thing its high time that something is done about it?

From what I can gather, from the immigration perspective:
1. If you are on H1 - You can technically start a business but since you cannot "work" towards it, in practice it's almost impossible
2. If you are on H1 and have an EAD - You can start a business. But if you use your EAD, you are no longer on H1. (There are contradicting views on using EAD for PT while still maintaining H1. For now, this is a grey area)
3. If you are on EAD -
a. If you plan to work on your business on a part time basis and stay with your sponsored job full time, I don't see a problem with this.
b. If you plan to work on your business full time, you might have an issue with a RFE at the I-485 stage as you would have used AC21 for self employment (Some people say this is okay, but it depends on your risk taking ability)

I have similarly checked a site here in MA which most of the local indian community visits. The prices are little high and I'm negotiating. If sulekha is visited a lot please enquire about the prices and then you can forward to the media committee.

There are favorable indications from the industry that they will get increased H1Bs. There is hence a strong belief among many lawyers that the H1B lobby will provide some relief. But we need to meet lawmakers so that they don't forget about the Green cards.
If you live in NY state, please contact bottlemani or myself. We need to organize ourselves before meeting the lawmakers. We will also have to take the trouble to drive to their offices. If we don't do this, all these pessimistic predictions will come true. Believe me, meeting the folks in the offices of the lawmakers makes a huge difference.

We all need to change our attitude and help each other in this common cause. If you were not told the correct bill rate, you can recover that money. Simply ask them in writing to show you the contract since you are on 70/30 basis. The written contracts, oral contracts, emails all stand in the court but how will you prove an oral contract? If you have found an offer that meets your expectations just quit. We all make the same mistakes. We spend our time on working out things where they are not working. Just "quietly" without your employer getting a hint, find a job and quit.
