Last time there was a recession (2001/2002), INS denied a lot of employment based immigrant petitions because they asked companies why they could not hire American programmers who were laid off. This happened people I personally know from reputed companies such as Sun Microsystems. I don't mean to sound negative, but do you think this will happen again? After being in the queue for so many years, the possibility is real.
They can't deny anyone who has filed I-485 because you have already crossed labor + I-140. Yes, they will ask for latest financial report for ability of pay etc. I do know that lot of company stopped processing of GC during that time.
Why the hell they don't stop H1bs rather than targetting people who already filed GC.

1. The 14th amendment is what this country created as a result of the civil war to end slavery. The congress-critters thinking of repealing this amendment either have forgotten their history or are evil in ways people have not understood.
2 and 3. Expectations of a balanced budget is an excellent example of not understanding the consequences of previous policies. Either a. reduce spending or b. increase taxation.
Neither is acceptable, but we still want a balanced budget. When I was young, I learnt these basics of supply and demand by carefully managing my pocket money. I suppose the rich congress kids never had to think like that.

Estate tax is in principle a very good idea. If some one dies, a portion of that persons estate is taxed (at almost 50%) before it is distributed to whomever it was willed. This promotes re-distribution of wealth, prevents concentration of wealth in a few families. Incentivises to work and earn one's own money than depend on parents property. This estate tax was first introduced by Augustus Caesar about 2000 years ago and almost all western nations use it to varying degree. I wish this tax is imposed in India too.
Warren Buffet and Bill Gates both support estate tax. There are some arguments against it. One argument is that if children do not have right to parents property, then society (through government) does not have that right either. TiE is a good place too. Of late it has become very crowded I heard. If you have a specific area( ie. Wireless, Semiconductor, Enterprise Software) that you are interested in there will def be SIGs(Special Interest Groups) for these in most orgs and you can join them and network your way through.

If the I-140 has been approved, you are entitled to use the PD on any subsequent I-140 unless it is revoked based on fraud or misrepresentation.
Hello Ann - Is that the case even if the new job has a slightly different job profile than the first one that you have an approved I-140 for? Is there anything specific to keep in mind in terms of same/similar job classification?

I got RFE on 140 asking
all my expereince letter proir to 2002 ( I came US in 1999) and By the time I worked with two companys.
Now I got one company exp letter and other one closed and I couldn't able to get the letter. as per sources and attorney advice I am submitting coleague affidavit.
and also they asked me all w2's where I worked only few months in 2004 and w2 amount is not that great.
I am still fearing how do USCIS take in to consideration when they finalise the case.
Do you think all these are substantiate my case , or they may come with another RFE or denial..
Please advise me what I want to do, I haven't submitt my case yet.

If they do this retroactively, I hope they retro to 500 years back. Everyone from the congress and the president should deport their ass from where their ancestor's came from.

I would send in a notorized affidavit from the parents stating that the right name is so and so and that the regitered name in birth certificate was in-correct. you can send in some more supporting docusmnrts like , school / collge graduation cdertificates...wonder why u have the wrong name in marrigae certifcate,,,birth certificates I understand, but why is it wrong in marriage certificate?

Well.. speak of the devil.. I did score the publisher's tickets for the Heat game.. Not where I thought they were though.. It's section 14, row 5, seats 10,11,12,13. So I'm over in the corner behind you it appears.
Checking the Fieldhouse website it says:
"Camcorders/Recording Devices:
�Still� cameras are permitted at Pacers, Fever and Firebirds games. No Video cameras are allowed. During other events this policy will vary, and guests may be asked to check these items in at Guest Relations in the Entry Pavilion."
I've never bothered to bring a camera into the games ever.. It seems as they are pretty liberal in the policy -- kudos to them.
Now I'm going to exploit it. :-) My wife is going to the game with me and I'm guessing she is going to give me grief if I drag the borrowed 300 w/o the hood into the game.. I went down to work to borrow it this afternoon.. I'll probably have to settle for the 70-200 after she throws a fit.

This is exactly what I have been saying for the last couple of months. This CIR is going to doom all EB immigrants. Obama's immigration enforcer is Dick Durbin, he has all the "compassion" in the world for illegals, he sponsors dream act, he wants to give amnesty to illegals but when it comes to eb he wants all of us to be kicked out. "Change" is definetely comming, no doubt about it but it is going to be a rude shock for the eb community. A bunch of people gave me reds for pointing it out. GE is not a person. All of GE employees as well as share holders pay taxes on their income. Why do you want to double tax the companies and make them go out of business? Thats one reason companies have to setup operations in tax haven countries.
It's as if the wife has to pay taxes on her salary and then the husband has to pay taxes on the pocket money he gets from his wife as monthly allowance to run the house hold. (Just reversed the traditional places of husband and wife for fun).
So, can I stop paying sales taxes when I buy any goods out of my 'after tax' earnings???
