I'm not that concerned about what features the new phone has. My iPod is by far the easiest to use gadget I own. My phone on the other hand is a horrible design. Loads of features, so on paper it looks good, but in practice is a mess to use. If Apple design a phone that links up via iTunes, works seamlessly and reliably with a well thought out UI and OS, I'll buy it. I do think that they'll stick with iTunes as the sole software for the phone as it already supports contact and calendar synchronisation.
I will be truly shocked if there is something that this phone can do that no other phone can do. I would also be surprised if Apple didn't make a phone that made it easier to do at least one element of current phone usage. Hopefully the basics of phoning, contact organisation and searching, and texting will be better than any of the useless phones I've been lumbered with. It's also important to remember that the design should easily top anything else out there, as design-wise I don't think the competition's that hot.

I wouldn't mind a 2gb shuffle so I don't have to sync as often.

I had the original iPad on unlimited plan. Bought iPad 2, and followed the instructions from ATT rep ... just switch the sim cards.
I switched the sim cards first thing ... there was no plan associated with the new sim card before I switched it.
So all went well. My iPad 2 picked right up with my original unlimited plan.
But, my original iPad ... after the new sim card was inserted in it ... showed 3G service, with antenna strength reading. What was going on? I turned off both devices, did the switch, and turned them on ... I would have assumed booting up the original iPad would have recognized the new sim card, in fact, Settings -> General -> About -> Cellular Data Number was listed as "unknown", so it definitely should have been using the settings from the new sim card ... yet I had 3G access!
Did I only have the remainder of the current cycle's plan on the device? Could I have had unlimited data on both iPads?
Since I was selling my original iPad .... I did a reset to return it to factory settings .... however, when helping the buyers set up a 3G plan on the device, I saw that it really did not clear EVERYTHING out associated with my original plan .... as I had the two options: USE EXISTING PLAN or START A NEW PLAN.
That made me nervous ... they started a new plan of their own on their credit card, and, after that, the option to use the original plan seems to have went away.
All seems well ... and I was selling to relatives ... BUT, I'd like to know more details about all of this .... have others have similar experiences? Thanks for sharing.

do you have any pics of your own??!?!?!
Er... No. Well. OK, I'll snap a couple with my crap camera. Someone needs to take some good pictures with a nice macro lens. ...I'm not that ambitious, besides my "big" or "nice" camera is still a film camera. OK, that's them... Not really any better than what others have posted. Oh well.

How do we know that the extendable text box might not become an overlay of the page that wouldn't damage the design? As you tab out or deactivate the box, it shrinks back to size. I'm sure this design has been thought through more in Cupertino than most people have spent here in the past hour.

Ugh, I'm glad I gave up on Apple and got an HTC... I was waiting out for the white iPhone 4 and it just never came. 10 months after the launch and I don't think I want one at all now.
I'll get a white iPhone 5... if it doesn't come out on day 1 in white, I won't get one at all, I don't want to be left waiting again.

"how can i record multiple channels from a yamaha o1v96 with midi out into my mac with garageband. And be able to mix later."
How many discrete channels do you want to record at once?
I think GarageBand's "limit" is 8 channels simultaneously, though I haven't used it in a while and the most recent versions of GB may be able to do more.
What kind of outputs does the Yamaha mixer have?

....What I want to know is how exactly you expect businesses to grow jobs, expand operations, etc. in this type of situation. It seems fairly clear based on the facts that A) this wouldn't be near enough money to solve the problem B)that the end result in the long run will almost certainly be less growth, fewer jobs, and less government 'revenue' than before. C) that you'd kill what chance we have left at regaining a strong economy as large businesses would do whatever they could to get their assets in locations of lower tax burden.
You're mixing income tax with corporate or business taxes. I know that some small businesses mix the two, but most keep these incomes separate. With this in mind, how would a tax increase on the top one percent or 25 percent hurt businesses?
You indicated that the rich weren't paying their 'fair share.' I responded by pointing out that the top 50% of wage earners pay 95% of the tax burden. ...
Can you point me to a time in history where lower taxes led to more growth?...
...If 90 people make $1,000 each, and 10 people make $50,000 each and they were evenly taxed on income, you'd still have 10% of the people paying 84.7% of the taxes. Is that unfair? No, it's not. Not in the slightest. And once you take out even a basic cost-of-living exemption, which should be the start of any tax system, that number would increase dramatically. Like, just over 95% maybe?
Fivepoint, can you address both of these questions?
The second is a good metaphor for taxation, those who hold the most wealth should also pay the highest taxes and will, as a consequence of basic math, pay a larger percentage of their income. This is 'fair' in a progressive system.
Also, while I agree that the deficit needs to be dealt with, I'm concerned that a breakneck reaction will cause more harm than it's worth. If your check oil light comes on, you don't immediately slam on the breaks and abandon the car in the weeds. Rather, you calmly slow down, pull over, access the fluids, and make new decisions.

I would still estimate that there are many more FCP installs in use than Avid.
If you look at the industry as a whole there are but the higher up the food chain you go the fewer FCP seats you see. These numbers are from a couple of years ago but from what I remember FCP had about 50% of the market and Avid had 25% or 30%. A survey of A.C.E. members (American Cinema Editors), who mainly work on 'Hollywood' TV shows and movies, taken around the same time showed that about 80% of members used Avid while about 10% used FCP.
For feature films and television these days, Final Cut is ABSOLUTELY the industry standard. Oh and in the 8 years I've lived in Hollywood, I never met one person in the industry who uses a Windows PC (maybe a writer or two).
No, it's not and people do use PCs although Macs are typically much more common in the creative fields than in the general population.

I have .Mac, but I probably won't be using this feature, disregarding some rare exceptions.
The reason: I prefer using the old Apple paradigm of "one application - one task". Yeah, I know, I like my habits from the outdated old century. I've never completely felt comfortable with web applications, since they don't have keyboard shortcuts that are analogous to the rest of the system. But with more and more applications moving to the web, I admit that I'm fighting a losing battle.
Yes, I'm aware that gmail and .mac have well-functioning autosave features, but that doesn't comfort me well when I try to move to the beginning of a line using command-leftarrow and end up wasting my concentration on the whole "gah! my document disappeared!"-idea. And I haven't even begun talking about command-Q
Visionaries have been talking about the browser replacing the OS as our main UI for many years, but I still don't think the conventions are mature enough for [me, at least] to do my serious tasks in browsers - yet.

But I'd also rather someone rot in prison for 50 years. But then again, it's like a holiday camp in prisons here. Playstations, internet, TV. The UK is a complete and utter joke. We're the laughing stock of the world. We're so scared of human rights, we bend over backwords for any prisoner. I'm SO happy that common sense what introduced for prisoner votes.
(
yes, it sure seems nice in those prisons.

Even if it where true, what's wrong with treating prisoners humanely? Shouldn't we try to rehabilitate prisoners so if they are released they don't commit another crime? And in the US at least prisoners can't vote, could you show a source saying that they can it the UK?

Your out of luck. Under no circumstances will Apple EVER replace a product with another one that is not exactly the same! Period!
While I agree that under those circumstances Apple is unlikely to make the swap I have to disprove your claim. My mom's 14 inch iBook's screen broke when our dog pulled the cord it was plugged into and knocked it to the floor (pre-magsafe days). She sent it into Apple where they so sweetly said they would repair it free of charge even though they didn't have to. It ended up taking a few weeks when they said they would have a new one for her in a couple of days. After a few times calling in to check on the status that never seemed to change, Apple sent her a brand new updated 12 inch powerbook! Another time a friend of mine spilled wine on the keyboard of his 2009 15 inch top of the line Macbook Pro. It worked for a few more months until it finally kaput. He took it into Apple just to see what they would do, not too optimistic. The Genius was awesome and gave him a brand new 2011 top of the line 15 incher!

I'm thinking about it: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mac-Plus-canvas-carry-bag-4MB-RAM-System-7-0-etc-/110668597072?pt=Apple_Desktops&hash=item19c45cc750
I already have my prized Macintosh Plus but this one has more RAM and is a little different, but it would look good next to my other Plus and my Classic.
