I have not been FPed recently. All 3 of us (me, my wife and daughter) were FPed in 2007. Then we filed for renewal in 2008 and got the EAD with no FP.
I was told by an InfoPass officer that FP are valid for 15 months..and after 15 months if PD is not current - they electronically re-validate the FPs.
Then I had called USCIS cust serv and they told me if my PD did not become current by May '10.. I should get FP notice..since it will be 30 months (15 + 15 months) since my last FP appt.
Anyone has info about my Que no. 2 ??

Guys who come here on H1Bs and apply? Let us set aside the fraud inherent in L1 visa for another day. The visa recapture is there, but it is also a separate issue which takes a while to accomplish.
H1Bs can't get EB1C. They need to be outside country in 1 out of 3 prceeding years. EB1C is intracompany transfer visa. Even if one is on H1B, they will be need to moved to L1A before they attempt this to my knowledge. Again we are not here to fix the world., we are here to fight for our cause and get going.. Lets be clear.. Most guys after getting their Citizenship, will also vote for republicans... So to me if we can somehow through, under, around get that visa recapture, we are all back to business my friend.. It is not a separate issue. It is the issue..

I had observed this last summer also that most of the CPO emails are received at night. In my opinion, it is probably due to the fact that they run these external communications as batch jobs at night, which is usually the case in any high volume corporate type IT systems.
So guys, relax and check you emails at night :-)

Actually, H.R. 5921: High Skilled Per Country Level Elimination Act is equally important. Why am I from India being discriminated against as compared to my neighbor from some other country if we are doing the same job for the same company. That way if everybody is in the same boat maybe there will be more uproar about 5882 because I'm sure other populations are more vocal than Indians and Chinese.

Various reasons...time...schedule...other obligations etc...lack of readily available information on IV as an organisation or state chapter....too many steps to do simple things like joining the state chapter :)
ya some of the reasons seem ridiculous...but even small things easily hinder people who already have a busy life. They create mental barriers...where such tasks are just postponed rather than handled in an instant.
I am trying to get more of IV core members to take these small things seriously and have even offered to help in this regard.
like the example of the weekly attorney call
Many like me don't have the time to search through forums as to what the number is for the call or where is the link for the chat. If its displayed on the main page "Click here to join attorney call" that would be so much easier and encourage a lot more participation.
I understand that there is lack of resources at IV to do this or address a lot of other things...but rather than being frustrated at lack of participation maybe more focus can be placed at these many small issues that need to get addressed

Is this happening this year too - TSC is giving approvals and not NSC? Last Aug / September when my priority date was current - it was the same, i know of people who got approved from TSC whose PD were 12/05.

Thanks fo rthe reply, in my case, it was not a mistake by the registrar, my grand parents just happened to give ' a name' and when my parents enrolled me at school, they gave my current name. I am not sure, if I hav a official govt doc saying my current name is the changed name from my old name, will this help as a valid document.
I see, but from immigration perspective, your name don't match. Given the time limitation that's what I will recommend:
1. Be truthful.
2. Get affidavits from your parents or elders who were around when you were born (separate affidavit from each individual)
3. Submit incorrect Birth certificate (since u do have a birth record, they will not issue you a Non-availability certificate).
Keep other supplementary docs (For ex high school marketsheet) handy, but do not submit unless asked for.
I went through hell fighting the case (may be unnecessary) in the court, but I wanted to prove my point and test indian legal system.
Do not take much stress. Get the affidavits and go for it...

EB2 and EB3 care about what is happening because i have seen EB2 guys on this forum talk about the EB3 backlog and on the flip side there are EB3 guys who are working with IV on whatever garden path they are being led on.
My effort is to make IV core aware of the fact that maximum EB3 guys do not believe in IV direction. Now that is an eye opener and if IV really believes that they they are a representative of all EB they must face the fact that they do not have support of maximum of EB3 folks
Now if IV comes up with some genuine action items which will relieve the pressure on EB3 then they will see that EB3 folks will start believing in this whole lobbying and advocacy effort.
For example this 55k bill could include terms for EB3. Now no one from IV is talking about that and one enlightened eb2 volunteer says let the bill come through then we can include but if IV does not talk about it now how will any EB3 believe that IV would do in crunch time

Dear All,
The idea about the oath is good. Most of us do great, creative things at work and earn the appreciation of our peers and seniors. Why not we brainstorm now, come with creative ideas to help ourselves?
Guys the Satyagraha and Anthem are good ideas and can be implemented. There is no shortage of good ideas.
The shortage is of people who will participate and do things. Less than 50 have registered so far.
Of course you understand talking face to face with lawmakers in large numbers is the best way to convey our ideas. Why are we talking about mails when the goal of this thread is to meet them ?

If this kind of restriction is not done what will be best way to resolve H1b issue? If H1b increase is done and similar increase is not done on GC then also problem to all IV members(retrogession will continue). If there is cap then certainly it will be reached every year within April.
If they restrict consulting then Most of the H1b persons will get permanent job. Because of less number of H1 most of them will get gc within 2 or 3 years. GC holders and US citizens will do consulting. System will adjust iteself within a few months

Do you know who is fulfulling major labour needs? It is consultants. If there are no consultants, there is no way to fulfill the projects on time. So, my friend, do not divide the H1B community into Consultants and Full-time employees. Both are needed. Also, do you know that 70% of H1B are with Consultants who are fulfilling lot of companies needs on a daily basis. So, we can achieve something if we are united, if not nobody is going to get benefitted and all of us have to suffer.
We are not here to discuss on what is going to happen for future H1Bs applicants and divide legal immigrants into differnt groups, first we need to have some solution on what to do for the people already here and facing retrogression. So, we will stay united to show our problems.
