1 week after getting approved, I got the card in mail today.
All the work that I put in the last 2 month to get my file picked finally comes to an end here. It's good to see that people are proactively calling USCIS and following up on their cases.
Good luck to all EB2 folks who are current and waiting and to all the EB3 folks, hope you guys become current soon.

Thanks for all the replies! I already contribute to IV, so all the mails about contributing to IV can stop :) You dont need to sell me IV.
I am considering an opportunity, but if I leave I might lose my PD as my current employer does withdraw the I140.

It is just speculation that it will take 10 years or 15 years. Actually past 3 years atleast 50% h1 were used by TCS,WIPRO and similar companies. So those who are processing gc is less. But it may take some time to clear current backlog as we had 195k H1 cap till 2003. If 65k h1 cap is there then it will be 3 year waiting period for EB2 and 4 to 5 year for Eb3. People will speculate based on number of H1s. But their calculation is not including the number of people who are giving up and also many people are going back. But if they increase H1 then the situation may become worse. I think one time releif will be enough to resolve the issue for
next 5 years. But Skil bill is asking too much(May be for permanent resolution of

Is this a parody post? How exactly is the law favorable to EB3? Just because they are allowed to file in EB2 later? Does this mean the law also favors children because it allows them to grow up? EB2 is in 2006. EB3 is stuck in 2001. "Plight"? Give me a break.

ICICI is good at advertising false figures (with our money of course) and SBI is little delayed in updating their websites - does that solves the equation :)
SBI rate is 43.21 for $4001 but i'm sure that's not latest because the website is not updated hour by hour ( like ICICI/R2i/C2i at least do for AD) but I've seen honesty in SBI's dealings when they actually convert $ to Rs. Even if the website shows lower rates they converted my money with higher rates because the market rate was higher during conversion.

I am using SBI M2I for several years and I have no issues, in fact I have an NRE account in India with SBI and my father also has a SB account with SBI. So, the money transfer process in whole happens with no hassle compared to any other method.
Intially I had some issues with them when I was trying to setup an online account for our bank accounts (NRE & SB) in india. The officers at the branch were we have our accounts are not well versed with computers, so they had a tough time setting up our accounts. In fact they weren't aware of the bank's online system until I told them, and they first refused to setup the accounts. So, I had to contact the bombay office and they helped them figure out the setup procedures.
Having said that, there is been a transaction delay lately with online SBI as well. My last 2 transfers took more than 8 days. I opened a ticket yesterday and waiting for their response. But overall I am okay with SBI so far.
P.S: I have used ICICI in the past and I still have the account, but I don't use it anymore, just maintaining the minimum balance in the NRE account. IMHO they are not very good service providers.

If any employer is minting too much and troubling a lot, make all necessary advances that one can physically produce, in such case once the person is approved with good status of Green Card one can sue the employer, that would be the right time to bring him to justice.
Yes but do note you do not have endless time to file a complaint. I don't know how many months you have to file a complaint after leaving your job but I know for sure there is a time limit.
Also I do not agree with your statement "minting too much". I don't think the complaint should be filed just because you are not happy with your employer or because employer made 'minted' money. Just because somebody made lot of money on you should not be a reason to harass the employer; this way we will be no better than the evil employers. If somebody thinks that the employer is going to make 'mint' money then s/he should not take the job in the first place.

Exactly my thoughts. However, that does not mean that I am not proud of heritage and culture of my country-of-origin.
The vast majority of people are here on these forums for getting their GC and USC.
I appreciate everyone who has congratulated me. Thank you so much. Please note that I sill belong to legal immigrant community and nothing can change that.

If I am proud of my country of origin and its heritage then it must be absolutely impossible for me to entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity with my country of origin. That is the expectation every human society or country generally have and must have to advance its own culture. Well I can not see myself fitting in that "Ethics watch" if I am changiing citizenship. If I am changing citizenship I absolutely do not have strong ethical connection with my heritage and country. And in that case it is fine to change citizenship for me and if I do that I would not speak about pride to my heritage and country. And if I am really and sincerely proud of my country of origin I would not become citizen of other country in spite of any attractive lure. It is that simple.

If you are not in india, then you are somewhere to earn more than you do than in india. So investment is safe if you can afford to invest in that property without a loan. If you are taking a loan you are getting ripped off. STOP there.
to me agricultural land is next to investment in gold. agri land always holds value(sale value) or appreciates over time. Always you can get decent return by farming something there. So my belief is you always get 6%+ return on investment over short/long period of time.

We have to understand that there is a myriad of laws; INA, CFR's; USCIS policy binding memos; internal memos; appeals decisions, court cases, precedent aao decisions, precedent legal cases.
Now; the ac21 memo is a memo that uscis officers have to follow. However; the memo is not in accordanc with INA 245 or AC21.
INA 245 states that a valid and approved 140 is needed for a person to get lawful permanent residency.
ac21 says that a person can change jobs after 485 has been pending for more then 180 days.
The above two things are the law.

I heard it is six months. But someone should clarify whether its 6 or 1 yr. And also it is really necessary to work for 6 months/1 Yr or not??

Neither DHS nor USCIS specified the minimum time one should stay with the (GC-sponsoring) employer after becoming PR. At the end it comes down to establishing your intention, that is, making sure your decision does not raise a red flag when USCIS pulls up your employment history later (during your citizenship interview, or if something else triggers a background check, e.g. your employer being investigated for a potential fraud). There are mitigating circumstances that should help if you leave early, such as being laid off soon after becoming PR, or as someone pointed out, if you invoked AC21 while waiting for GC etc. (These are things I admit I do not know much about, as my own GC was self-sponsored.) We are talking intangibles here, and you are unlikely to find any set-in-stone rule.
Having said that, your decision should not (read never) be dictated entirely by how USCIS may interpret your intention. There are other priorities, such as family, that should come first and foremost. After years of letting USCIS be the lord-and-master while we waited for GC, it is high time we step up and take control of our life. Besides, after looking up several threads over quite some time, I did not come across a single case of anyone being denied citizenship, or having GC revoked, on employment history alone. (The biggest deciding factor has almost always been "moral character".) What we are seeing and hearing in congress is the overwhelming ignorance and lack of understanding of the contributions made by H1B and GC aspirants to the US economy. There is the wise saying that "Everything happens for a good reason". We have been trying so hard for last 2-3 years to make these politicians realize and to make corporate America realize that they need to do something about our problems because of our value proposition. Apparently all these calls have only backfired and caused the anti-immigrationists to lobby even harder and pull the strings of politicians to make them do as they please. Whether we like it or not, unless the raw brunt of a mass exodus of educated work force is not felt by this country, there is no way for them to understand how wrong they are. EB category has never had loyal support. All of the corporate america support has rested on the need for H1B. We have been abused by this system and forced to feel that we have abused this system. I think we have been told in a million ways by now that we need to find a Plan B. I feel bad yet no remorse for the thousands of H1Bs who do nothing to support the cause of organizations like IV. As someone once said, most of them are very laid back and will not worry about the problems untill someone tells them to buy their return tickets back home. We are very happy with eating samosa and tea and do not have the perspective to realize what threats lie on the horizon. I say this based on actual conversations with some of these people who literally scoff at me and think I am off my rocker when I discuss the repurcussions of no reforms. Like the prehistoric animals who did nothing to adapt in the full view of changing environmental conditions, these laid back folks will realize only too late.

It is important to know that despite of severe visa retrogression and random visa cutoff date movements, USICIS or DOS hasn�t released any official information on how many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS under various categories which leaves thousands of AOS(Adjustment of Status) applicants in complete darkness and dependent on guessing games by various Law firms.
A green card application requires enormous amount of efforts and money from the beneficiary and his/her employer. People who are waiting for 7-8 years now would have had already spent average $15,000-$20,000, in maintaining their statuses and keep the Green Card process going on. Being stuck in a green card process keeps us bonded with 1 employer, job type etc.
We need to know if there is any light at the end of the tunnel. We need to know for how long we have to live our life in limbo. If there is hope than we need to be patient and plan to live like that for another 1-2 years. But if there�s no light at the end of the tunnel than we need to move on with our careers and other family commitments. Only your office and USCIS can help us by releasing statistics on the number and categories of applications pending with USCIS people waiting in this category can plan their lives accordingly.
It will be a great help if DOS or USCIS could tell us about the number of AOS application pending at USCIS along with their Categories(EB-3, EB-2, EB-1) and chargeable country.
We have been waiting for a decade and continue to wait would it be reasonable to request you for some guidance with regards to the Visa allotment. I request your office to provide some statistics on home many Adjustment of Status applications are pending at USCIS.

The prevailing wage some how came to $5000 more than the salary than the company pays me ( I think I am pretty competitively paid ) . Our attorney team told me that this is nothing to worry about . The wage difference actually matters when your I-485 is filed and about to be approved . So you could actually go ahead and file the labor and get the I140 approved and wait for your wage to rise to the levels ( you will have to wait anyhow for a few years ).So if I have to wait for like 3 years for my GC my wage will surely rise to USD 5000 in 3 years . Also remember that the total wage is the sum Salary + Joining bonus + awards + yearly bonus . So you could add these things to give your total wage .

That is really odd. Is your I-140 approved?
Joining Bonus, Awards, and Year Bonus are NOT part of salary unless it is defined and guaranteed for every year.

I just looked at my old cases(H1Bs-I-129) and i see LUDs on them too!!! This is so weird.
These are from my last company!
LUD on 05/06/2006 - Approved on October 11, 2003
LUD on 10/21/2007 - Approved on March 19, 2002
I see LUDs but no difference in the status. They both say approval notice sent.
