I think there is a pattern here. Out of the 6 approvals we can see today all are from Nebraska, while out of the 40 approved yesterday only 10 were from nebraska. Looks like Nebraska has been ordered to catch up......and Texas to wait till Nebraska does it:) oh well, I know I m tryin to do the impossible.

In anticipation of America's Job Bank (AJB) ceasing operations as a recruitment tool, the Backlog Elimination Centers (BECs) will be switching to America's Job Exchange (AJE) as an alternative site for posting recruitment advertisements for backlogged Foreign Labor Certification recruitment activity. AJE is one of the alternatives authorized by the Employment and Training Administration (ETA). The BECs have coordinated with AJE staff and we believe this transition will cause little if any disruption. ...I think a great deal depends on the person at the counter at InfoPass, or the one on the phone in case of NCSC.
I took infopass this Monday at the local Chicago office. The guy basically said he cannot do anything...also said they cannot do anything even if I don't receive the card after 90 days. I then had an SR filed yesterday afternoon by calling NCSC...in this case the guy was nice and he even included my wife's EAD app info on the SR.

Unfortunately your friend is correct - the alternate I can think is withdraw your present application and file I-140 and I-485 simultaneously now - other please tell whether this will be a good approach for their benefit. Can EB3 file concurrently I 140 and I 485.
On my wife's labor certificate, it is said her position requires a minimum of master degree. But the alternate is bachelor degree plus 2 years' experience. The lawyer has filed I-140 under EB2.
We are worried that this position does not qualify EB2 because we read on the internet that EB2 requires master degree or bachelor plus at least 5 years' progressive experience. We called the lawyer and said we heard from a friend such a case had been denied. She was very busy and just said there was no problem to apply for Eb2, and if we doubt it, we can hire our friend as a lawyer. We are so pissed off.
Can someone help me clarify if this position is qualified for EB2? do we need to change it to Eb3?

Looks like i got confused.....deleted this. The provisions to reduce the backlog were included in S.AMDT.180 , which has not even been voted..... the s.amdt.187 is something different. I guess we all got confused. The S.AMDT.180 has not passed senate.

My interest in the house would be long term investment rather than quality of life. Another point is that most people are unwilling to spend lot of money on rents to get the same QOL. There is emotional element there called (eventual) 'ownership' but that's only emotional. That I don't care about too much.
If the trend indicates prices are falling this year, I guess people will wait for a year more but at some point people will go ahead, depending on the overall economy start buying because no one can really predict the bottom. At that point, it may even start going up allowing the economy to slowly get back on its feet.
The trend is certainly clear :(. That 'some point' is far far away and nearly invisible.

The GOVT should state that those who apply for H1 should make it mandatory for the employees to be in US within 30 - 45 days of obtaining US Visas and be present in US on employment in continous increments of 1 year. And they need to show pay stubs continously.
- Then we can easily filter out WIPRO, Infosys, Consulting company from misusing. For example Wipro will apply 5000 H1s and then send people when they eventually get a project, out of 5000, may be 1000 may show up in 6 months. So In this case 4000 H1s can get invalid. Indian companies find it sending people overseas is expensive business and would enjoy offshoring projects. If the govt makes this rule, consulting companues will be forced to start paying H1 folks from Day 1, no bench period, plus "Candidates need to show up in person immdlty in US". We kill 2 birds with 1 stone. 1, dummy H1s will not be applied, 2, if they approve H1s then they have to send engineers immdlty for which they may not be really ready, since they only anticipate projects and may not need so many H1s right away !...

For 485, proof of valid status in US is required - Valid status in the US is determined by i94. u need not have a valid visa stamp. Note that I485 can only be filed if u are in the US.

HI guys ,
Why are we even thinking of owing a house , imagine our parents, most of them were able to manage with Government earned meager salaries. I think our focus should be on the how improving the bottom line for our company , i think we should focus on cutting cost and improving productivity in our companies we work in this economy rather than discussing this useless housing stuff or stocks.
Sorry guys i think we as an responsible immigrants should take the lead in showing to our American counterparts how to live with few !!.
