Now lets go back to simple math: there are 140,000 immigrant visas available per fiscal year. 40,000 visa numbers are available at this time. The fiscal year runs from October 1st through September 30th. That means that in the first 9 months of the fiscal year, the Department of State and USCIS have managed to approve 100,000, which turns out to be 11,111 petitions per month.
During this period they approved applicants whose date was not current. These persons are getting GCs and there is a thread for such applicants. It is possible that there are 40K+ such persons. Hence, the following does not matter.

There is no possible way that USCIS and the Department of State are going to approve almost 4 times the number of permanent residencies in the month of July. The agencies do not have the time, nor do they have the manpower to approve 40,000 petitions within the next 30 days or so. That is the very reason why the Department of State official solely responsible for the priority dates felt pretty good about the availability of visa numbers throughout the month of July when he spoke to my colleagues from AILA.

Remember Lame duck session. Now imagine having twice as many members, double the number of phone calls and faxes and emails. Double the activity and contributions.
We do have to make sure that next time (read: Jan 2007) We go with a bigger organisation. What is the use of talking strategy or doing things with the same number of people.
Leave the strategy to the core team, Please help out with adding members.

I agree , Members need URGENTLY help adding more members .. the least , add one more member to the forum SOON.

    Smisachu,
Thank you. We appear to have similar filing profiles. If your profile pic is of yourself, we probably have similar interests as well, although I ride a standard, not a crotch-rocket.

Have you considered the fatc that if CIS is going as per Receipt Dates within a PD batch, we're talking thousands of cases?

Yes our profiles are very similar what with employer close out on our first applications:(

And yes I am very much a crotch rocket/rice burner Yamaha guy.

Let us wait for some more approvals and observe if the ND theory holds water.

radhagd, thank you for the information.

Couple of questions to all gurus:

Is there any time limit to say birth certificate is recent? I got my birth certificate in Jan'07, trying to see if i need to sumit the affidavits?

Also do we need to have copies of all I-94 cards since the first time we entered US? Looks like i don't have the I-94 copy which was issued when i entered in 1999 for the first time. In that case what would be the solution?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I am not an expert, but as far as I understood it's not the question when the birth certificate is issued, it's when your birth is registered. If the registration date in the birth certificate is a recent date then you need to submit the affidavit.

You need the most recent I-94 card. All the previous cards are not necessary

Has anyone asked attorney whether we can write our case number on the complaint letter without asking employer since LC(PERM) is filed by employer and the case number seems to belong to employer.

My HR and company hired attorney are always not cooperative to my GC and I want to clear things.

Don't take my question negative. I am fully supportive this 100% and appreciate guys very much. I am happy that we are doing something to make things better.

    Saggita,

I copied the letter from Ron send it to my attorney asking whether I can send this letter with my case number on it. My employer is very cooperative but the problem is they do not have any idea on what green card process is. I will let you know once I get the reply from my attorney.

    Good luck..

Alright guys, I cannot tell you how excited I am to report that i got a call this morning from my attorney and my online case status also states that Card Production was ordered for my case!!!

After 8 long years.....i finally have been approved for permanent residency. After 7 years, i will finally, with peace of mind, go back to India to visit my family. Thanks to IV, everyone's help on these forums for helping me keep my sanity over the past 2 years....

After 15 years in the US, I will finally have my green card in hand soon.

    -Nola

Many congrats my friend. God bless you!!!

    Sam,

I contributed $50 earlier today, your post has inspired me to make an offer, like what Anurakt has made."I will contribute $500 to IV if we sign-up 20 members for recurring $50/m OR 200 members for $20/m, whichever is earlier."

Alright the game is on then !! Let's see if the IVians have any fuel left or if they will run out of gas today....

I asked the admin and other senior people. But no one bothers to respond.

I have been in touch with the the administrators and they have been very prompt and supportive regarding this initiative. We have been communicating almost on a daily basis.

Like any other initiative or the campaign, the more people and voices we have the stronger the campaign is, I am glad to see the 50 number mark but if we need to make this a solid campaign we need to have at least twice as many people as what we have now. Imagine how many people apply for LC, 50 of them having issue with the process is not going to convince any body that there is a problem.

I am still trying to get people together but that does not prevent us from brain-storming the ideas or even taking actions that does not require a mass scale of support from other people (e.g. lobbying with politicians, etc.)

    Hi,

Can anybody breakdown the PERM application process from start to finish with an approximate timeline for each portion please. This is assuming that the person is just requesting his employer to apply labor via PERM and should include the advertising period.

We need more members like rsayed!

Please pass the Add ONE member message to the new members too. that way, it will have greater impact.

Come on guys, now that we are back from our vacations, let's make the final push for the Dec 31st goal.

yes, the goal was to be a 10,000 member community by Dec-31st.
We have not achieved that. Lets shoot for becoming a 8000 member community by Jan 15th. I think smaller goals are more easily achievable.

I tried calling NSC, after I punch in my receipt#, it says accessing your record but then it gives me message "Due to temporary problem with our system, we can't access the information". I tried calling again 10 minutes later and got the same message. Anybody else facing same issue?

Yep...I got the same message the first time. After disconnecting and trying again, I was able to get my case status info. Try calling again after sometime.

When I did it a few months ago, it took close to 90 days. And, once you submit, you are at their mercy. No information is given, phone calls always end up in 'this mailbox is full crap'.

So, if you need it much faster, I would suggest either calling them prior to submitting and checking if their times have improved or going there in person. I am not sure if that makes a difference.

The 10 day return is supposedly for people who got their passports through Houston. For passports issued in India, it may take up to 90 days.
