This is based on the BIG assumption that the yearly quota for EB categories is 140,000 from 1986 to 2008.
Does anybody know how to verify this important assumption online --a link to a gov website perhaps?
It would be good to verify when the law specifying 140,000 visa numbers per year was passed and
what were the criteria for visa number usage prior to the existence of the law.
It is clearly a well prepared format and nobody has brought this kind of helpful information to our group. We would need people like you and I am sure I will also support this if we are aggressively pursuing it. But again as somebody here said in this discussion that we should be careful about the seriousness of the situation being counted by the lawmakers.

I checked on the site you mentioned. I can see so many approvals for the dates after mar-01. There are approvals on mar-01, mar-07, mar-09, mar-11, mar-12, mar-14, mar-15, mar-16 etc etc for the Atlanta center. I dont know what made you think that the process was slowed sin Mar-01.

Today I got a mail from a H1B person with German nationality and suffering due to green card issues. He is planning to go back to Germany. He found us through wikipedia.
Great work, keep it up. I hope more people contribute to this effort. Only a handful have participated and few have just suggested a link in their post instead of posting themselves on the sites.
It takes only 15 minutes to help!
If you dont know where to post, just google- 'desi forums' indian forums' 'immigration forums' 'desi classifieds' 'chineese forums' etc kind of keywords and you wll find plenty to get started.
All these efforts are small behind the scenes efforts for IV publicity and are very important for our visibility, awareness, membership drive and search engine rankings. You maybe an annonymous soldier in this effort but your effort will be useful. I hope more people help out with this idea.

It is my feeling that "Illegals>5 years" should not be preferred over "legals<5 years".
really? so you mean illegals are not humans? Or just because you are not in the category, you think only you deserve to live a "respectable" "decent" life, and others should wait in line until you are satisfied. That way of looking at things is exactly the way Citizens look at green cards, people will green card look at non-green holders, people with H1/L1 look at illegals. And that behavior or way of looking at others can described in one phrase - "I'm better than you." And when rules are changed, and we can no longer subscribe t that "false" notion of "I'm better than you.", you think there is something wrong with the bill.
What is wrong with the bill that gives everything that you want, and in addition to it, gives that "illegal alien" what he deserves, not on the grounds of a degree, which is merely a piece of paper, but on the grounds of how humans ought to treat other humans? This bill gives everything that legal skilled community wants, but idiots could not stop beating down on something being given to someone else. I did not want to be hard on people who have a different opinion - its the level of frustration when educated professionals like you and me are still debating about someone's intentions - when ultimately each of these help in our goal.
Take our freedom struggle for example - Netaji fought the Brits in his won way, Gandhi fought the english in his own way , so did hundreds of other fighters - did we cast doubt on thier intentions ( actually yes - some people do cast doubt on each of the freedom fighters intentions!). It actually helped that the Brits faced enormous pressure from different sides and had to leave the country. May be its an extreme example - but in the case of Murthy's message - why are we to think that her intentions are really cheap publicity and even if it is - what is it going to buy her? Bharath Ratna or some more additional clients? I am sure she's not going to get the former - but the latter, she's well within her rights to publicize if it meant to get her few more clients.

Whatever is the report on CNN, why do you have to draw an analogy between US and Indian? I mean, you think that there are only two nations in the world - US and India? Or do you think that all people on IV forums are from India? Sorry, it is not my objective to offend anybody but I find these analogies very funny. Also, I think such immature posts hurt our cause. I had scanned a copy of DHS 7001 and emailed to Ombudsman last Wednesday (special thanks to Googler for all his informative messages). Also, when I spoke to TSC IO three weeks ago, the IO mentioned that they will email the 485 team based on my case details....not sure what triggered an action to my case....but whatever it was....I'm glad it did!! :) Congratulations Harish! Btw, Googler is a her not a his. :)
